Three Oaks Roasting Co. Purchases Broad River Roasters Carrying Forward a Shared Love of Coffee & Community
Shelby, NC — September 10, 2025 — Three Oaks Roasting Co. is excited to announce the purchase of Broad River Roasters from owner Seth Stevens. Three Oaks Roasting Co. is owned by Sean and Janae Johnson, the husband and wife team behind Press Coffee Lounge. Since 2021, Three Oaks has operated from a micro-roastery serving online subscribers, retail outlets, coffee shops, and mobile baristas throughout the Charlotte area.
The purchase of Broad River Roasters allows Three Oaks to grow exponentially within the community they love. With a continued focus on community, sustainability, and high quality coffee, Three Oaks plans to move its roasting operations into Broad River’s commercial facility located on the stunning Spinning Leaf property in Shelby. Seth Stevens, who began the Broad River Roasters journey in 2001 with the support of his wife, Heather, and daughter, Lynsie, says the acquisition felt like ”a match made in heaven”.
“It was important to us that we find the right partner to carry on what we’ve built,” says Stevens. “Weweren’t in a hurry—our clients and partners mean too much to us. Sean and Janae share our commitment to quality and community, and we are confident our customers will continue to be well cared for.”Three Oaks Roasting Co. shares Broad River’s belief in “coffee with cause”—that every cup has the power to strengthen communities, both locally in Shelby and across the globe through partnerships with nonprofit organizations. The expansion will allow Three Oaks to invest in the roastery to support coffee roasting and fulfillment, facilitate training classes for roasters, host customer events, and offer coffee education.
”When our customers and community succeed, we succeed,” says Janae Johnson. “Plus, we enjoy connecting our customers to what’s in their cup and the people who produced it.”
As they carry the legacy of Broad River Roasters forward, Three Oaks is committed to their new home in Shelby, to building community through coffee, and to “Roasting with Roots.”
“The opportunity to purchase Broad River Roasters came at just the right time,” says Sean Johnson. “It allows us to continue building on a legacy of community connection set forth by Seth Stevens and his team, and to further amplify our shared passion for coffee.”
